“Good thing I got my hair cut”, or, “it’s only a matter of time until it’s my turn”
Posted by Mandy on February 14th, 2008 filed in Jack DoingsYesterday I went out and got a hair cut, for the first time in a year. Hey, there’s been alot going on!! It is now at the top of my shoulders, and both boys here seem to like it. Jack kept reching his hands out and running his fingers through the ends, and smiling.
Jack was also very, very cuddly yesterday. We thought it was just him being cute, but I think it was a harbinger of the evening to come. At 5:15, Jack threw up. All over. Alot. He had been playing on his stomach, though, and I figured he had just hiccuped at the wrong time while there was pressure on his stomach and it touched off the spew (hey, it’s happened!). Obviously, the thing to do after your child throws up is to say “hey, I bet you’re hungry now that the entire contents of your stomach now reside on my legs, the carpet, my right wrist, and the blanket!” In my defense, Jack got up and kept on playing as if nothing had happened, talking and laughing at us. SO about 20 minutes later, Jack had peas for dinner, but he wasn’t all that hungry. Cue the foreshadowy music.
We went upstairs to get him ready to bathe, and he was quiet. He seemed tired, but otherwise OK. As Ben was sitting on the toilet getting him undressed, all of a sudden he coughed and the peas came pouring out like slow-moving magma. This started the trend for the evening–Jack would continue to heave until about 12:30, but there was nothing left in his stomach except for bile. Poor kid. I slept in his room with him last night, and each time he started to cough and throw up, I was up to help him sit upright and lean forward so he would not get anything stuck in his throat. Poor kid. About 1:30, I gave him some pedialyte and nursed him briefly, but today has been a long battle of trying to get himt o ingest much of anything. I bet he still feels weird.
I also think it’s a matter of time until I come down with it. Being so covered in a volatile substance, how could I avoid it? Happy Valentine’s Day!
