I am so looking forward to this year. Mainly because it is a blank slate and while last year was a good one for us and our little family, it also seemed very hard, for all sorts of other reasons. Here’s to a better year.
I hope to post once a week (maybe even twice!) as one of my resolutions.
I hope to get on the healthy living kick and stick with it longer than a few months.
I hope to be more creative. I know I have made a bunch of stuff, but it’s been other people’s patterns or tutorials. I want to come up with the projects I do from start to finish (at leat a few of them!)
I hope to travel and see family and friends more.
I hope to finish painting and getting the house in order.
I hope to relax and laugh more, and enjoy the moment.
What are your wishes?
Srsly. Why didn’t I take out the dried chickpeas and let Jack go to town before? He has spent at least an hour today (not consecutive) removing them from one container and putting them very specifically into *other places*, using a large serving spoon. Given that he has had 5 days in a row of illness ( a “raging double ear infection” according to our doc yesterday morning), and is also working overtime to produce snot equal to his 30 lb body weigh for those days, and this is the most fun we’ve had in DAYS.
Also fun? A small mag lite, turned on. He likes to “paint” with it.
It really has been a long time, has it not? In a nutshell:
- One set of parents, Ben’s sister and her fella visited in October
- The other parental unit came to visit for Thanksgiving
- I have been making Christmas presents for many people (tutus, a folding fabric dollhouse, and a crayon apron). Some pictures to follow. Yeah, I really promise!
- Finished Baby E’s quilt, sent it, and forgot to take pics of it. Will see if I can get some to share.
- Jack has had a major growth spurt (grew over an inch, and put on some weight) and also has been cutting 5 teeth. Suck!
- Ben started a new job.
- Jack has a large vocabulary, and is using it to tell me all sorts of things. Like we need to be dong stuff all the time because he is boooooored. Of course, he doesn’t know the word for “bored” but he does know the signs and words for different activities, and he lets you know that he wants to do them RIGHT NOW.
- Jack hates it when I am on the computer because *obviously* I am not paying attention to him. His demands on my time have increased dramatically over the last few months. Sorry for those who are looking for new posts!
- The tree has been put up and decorated. Some shopping has been completed. ben bought his present a few months back, so he’s taken care of!
- We got a chest freezer so that I can have a place for all our extra food so I don’t have to cook all the time.
um…. what about y’all? Gotta run. Little boy is stomping on my feet and using his butt as a wedge to push me back from the computer (currently set up in the kitchen on the counter because he won’t let me sit down to use it!)
Jacks been dunking his basketball for a while, and he’s decided to branch out to a different dunking category:

He also finds this works well with salsa. Â MMMMmmmmmm salsa…
Jack likes the swings at the park, but his most favorite activity is filling the storm drain with rocks. Â One at a time. Â Sometimes, when they make a particularly good splash, he feels the need to comment on it: ooohhhh!
Â
Jack slipped trying to climb stairs at a neighborhood play group today, and ended up biting his tongue. Â At first, I had no idea how many teeth he was missing, but after they were all accounted for, a mom with 3 older boys came over and calmly pried his mouth open as we held him down and looked in. Â We gave him a popsicle to help calm down the pain (and the blood stopped, too), and as he reached out to lick it, I saw 4 little teeth-prints on the top of his tongue.
In related news, Charlie’s Soap got the blood out in 30 seconds, with absolutely no problem. Â I heart Charlie’s.
